GET IT TO GO: BREAKFAST AT WENDY'S

Good morning everyone!
Actually at the time you're reading this it could be any time of day so..."HI," instead.

Your semi-fearless foodie folks down here in the Tennessee basin of Knoxville have been looking for ways to keep you informed about our 2 cent opinions on good eats and otherwise and as life has been busy I figured I'd give you my review on my attempts to get some fast-food breakfast outside my normal routine and give you my thoughts on the fare at Wendy's since they actually just in the past year or more started breakfast service. I figured I'd give them time to work out their kinks before putting my gut through a sampling of items but after a month and 4 weeks of trying one item per week here's my thoughts in ranking from meh to mmmmmmmm.

#4 Sausage Gravy & Biscuit
Okay, now being an admitted northerner in a southern world, I may not be the best person to tell you if this was a delicious dish or not. However, I've become accustomed over the past 20 years to very creamy, white gravy with sausage so when I got this and it was a little more "off white" and thinner than I have come to like I was definitely not the biggest fan of their take on the traditional breakfast combo here. I'm open to your take on it though.

#3 Sausage, Egg & Cheese Burrito
The only things I can say was that it was "fine". It's on the smaller side so don't expect it to be filling and I found it a bit bland.

#2 Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit
I think that sadly McDonald's has ruined me for this sandwich offering. If my biscuit doesn't actually leave a clear spot on a paper towel from the lard or butter or whatever they use I am not as impressed I guess. While it was clear that the biscuit was fresh from Wendy's it was fluffy and didn't have some of the buttery crisp that I've come to treasure. I preferred Wendy's egg handling and presentation more though and the bacon was really good and had a nice crisp to it. I felt like I was eating something handcrafted and for me that was a plus, but my tastebuds I think are spoiled by the other fast-food giant and well I'm just sorry.

AND NOW for my pick of my favorite thing I ate for breakfast at Wendy's

#1 Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit
I was shocked as all get out to discover that this was my ultimate favorite breakfast item from the ones I've sampled over the month. Anytime I go out to a restaurant (or did before covid), if the server gave us bread with that honey or sweetened butter nonsense I'd defiantly request a ramekin of actual real butter because am actually a savory-food lover rather than into sweets. However...this sandwich took me by surprise. Pair the biscuit which was fresh with that honey butter and a really great chicken breast with a crisp delicious exterior and a juicy interior and I will say I think this may rival my ultimate favorite breakfast fast-food item of chick'n mini's from Jesus-Chicken (I mean Chik-fil-A). I highly recommend this item and encourage you to give it a try and let me know what you think.

In the meantime, thanks for reading and this is Anna signing off from her duty of eating a little something outside her comfort zone for your amusement.

Abandonment, Fear and Thanks

I woke up today very early. My significant other and I have a young puppy so that's part of the life at this time. Disturbed sleep. I woke up and just thought well, it's Thanksgiving, let's just be thankful today. I was in a good frame of mind. I had made the decision to just be present today as much as possible. But...in the wee small hours of the morning my always present depression and anxiety had other plans. I went to message a friend of mine. I connect a lot on Facebook so I went into messenger to just let her know I was thinking about her and I couldn't find her. At first I didn't worry, I figured that she and I were both struggling with the election stress and maybe she just went dark for a bit. I get that. I understand taking the mental health break if need be. Alas, she didn't just go dark.  Upon investigation I came to understand that I had a friend in real life that I care about deeply. I would try hard to check on her and send Erik over with various...

The Foodie Review = Week Ending 08/29/20

FINDS After trying two flavors I have to admit I cannot say enough good things about Simple Creations Seasoned Beef Ribeye Steaks available at Aldi's. We've now had the chop-house seasoning and the roasted garlic and herb seasoning; and all steak cuts were under $5.00. So I could get 3 for each of us (each one is a single serve); for $15.00 in total as opposed to $15.00 for probably 1 rib eye most places. Mind you I want to get a bougie rib eye at some point from a local butcher but this girl is on a hard core budget so I have to stay focused on cheap thrills. I've followed the instructions from Alton Brown for the most part from the episode: STEAK YOUR CLAIM.  Here's the suggestions: Get yourself a Ribeye. Use a Cast Iron Pan 10 Inch - 11 Inch. When making steak, put oven at 500 bake. Put skillet in oven. Coat both sides of steak with kosher salt (I did not because they were seasoned already). Put pan on high heat for 5 minutes. Black pepper on both sides. Canola Oil a...
